THREE COUNTRIES VIRTUAL BIKING TOUR
Virtual biking experience of three countries - Italy, Slovenia and Croatia

WEBINAR IN A FEW WORDS

the key information

We are venturing out on this marvellous adventure exploring the three countries: Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. The main link between the three is the Istrian Peninsula and most of it is connected today with a superb biking trail Parenzana, nicknamed also as “The route of health and friendship”. Join us and paddle with us as we explore the area between Trieste and Pula, two biggest cities of our journey. In between our pathway will be crossed with lovely coastal resorts, salt pans, charming hill-top towns, quaint little villages, abundance of intriguing nature. We will gather our strength by eating good food and drinking some wonderful wine, produced at some of the best wine growing terrains of the region. WE will dive deep into history - walking with the Romans, observing the Venetians, being intrigued with the Austro-Hungarians and marvel at the beautiful cultural mix of the three countries seen on the plates, in wine glasses as well as in meeting the fascinating and hardworking locals. We promise - it will be fun!

The famous port of Trieste

Occupying a thin strip of land between Adriatic coast and Slovenia’s border, influenced by Italian, Austro-Hungarian and Slavic influences, ramparts from the roman days, the biggest port of the area, it is a fascinating city to get to know.

Slovenian coastline

Short, 28 miles stretch of the sea, all that Slovenia has, is packed up with a large amount of historical towns, lovely villages and a constant influence of the Venetian rule from the past.

Salt pans

This stretch of Istrian peninsula is filled with customs associated with the sea - the most famous one being the harvesting of sea salt at Piran salt pans, dating back to 1278.

Hilltop towns of Istria

High up on the hills, a bit farther away from the sea are this two lovely and quaint little towns of istria: the artistic town of Grožnjan and the truffle and wine paradise of Motovun

Coastal towns Poreč and Rovinj

famous seaside destinations in the summer and pleasant towns to walk around throughout the rest of the year: Poreč is famous for its Euphrasius Basilica, included into the Unesco list of cultural heritage because of its Byzantine influence and the colourful town of Rovinj, the most romantic and photogenic town along Istrian Coastline.

Roman ruins in Pula

Marvel at the best preserved Roman amphitheater in this part of Europe.

Food and wine

The Romans had a good reason to call Istria “terra magic”. It shows on the plate and in the wine glass.
